Bolt from Grande Communications

Introducing Bolt! High-Speed Internet supercharged with “Bolts” of up to 24.0Mbps of download speed at no extra cost.

Bolt is a broadband technology that allows GForce Cheetah 12.0 customers to temporarily double their download speeds to 24.0Mbps for 10 seconds.

Bolt will initially kick in when there is extra bandwidth available to handle downloading big files like video, photos, software and music faster.

You are not limited to a certain number of “Bolts,” rather they are granted as often as the network availability allows.

Who Can Get Bolt?

Bolt comes standard as part of GForce Cheetah 12.0 at no additional charge.

GForce 8.0 customers can upgrade to GForce Cheetah 12.0 for just $10 more per month.

Bolt is not available with DSL, FTTH or Dial-up, it is only available to GForce Cheetah 12.0 customers.

How Fast Is Bolt?

GForce Cheetah 12.0 downloads a 30MB file (10 MP3 songs) in 21 seconds while GForce Cheetah 12.0 with Bolt downloads the same file in only 11 seconds!

How Do I Get Bolt?

GForce Cheetah 12.0 customers don't have to download or install anything to experience the blistering speed of Bolt.

There are no on-screen indicators when a Bolt is taking place. But you should notice a shorter download time when downloading a large file, such as software, games, music, and photos.

Are There Any Restriction?

Bolt is not available on DSL, Fiber To The Home (FTTH) or Dialup

Requires GForce Cheetah 12.0 High-Speed Internet (Cable Modem)

Requires a DOCSIS 1.1 compatible cable modem. Customers renting older (non DOCSIS 1.1 compatible) cable modems like COM21s can swap them at the office free of charge

Bolt only works when there is available bandwidth on the network, it will not kick in during peak congested hours.
